I was driving back home from Madison, it was late and I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it all the way home. What an oasis1810 Emerson House was! After a full day of intense work meetings, it was lovely to be greeted so warmly, left to explore the house with tasty snacks and wine, then enjoy the comfortable room. And breakfast did not disappoint – beautiful and delicious! Too bad I have to get back to work. Best wishes!
Wisconsin’s Gateway Bed and Breakfast
Located in an elegant residential neighborhood just east of Beloit College, guests will delight in staying at the historic 1810 Emerson House Bed and Breakfast. This lovely example of Georgian Colonial Revival architecture was built in 1930 as a wedding gift for Theodore and Rosella Woolsey. The house’s distinctive roughhewn cedar shake roof and cream-colored brick with dramatic “weeping mortar” is a neighborhood standout.
Beloit truly is the Gateway to Wisconsin, being located at I-90 and the Wisconsin – Illinois border. Both Milwaukee and Madison airports are only 1 hour away, and only 1 ½ hours from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. Emerson House is also a short distance to Beloit College, cultural art centers and quaint downtown shops and restaurants.
